Rising Youth Grant and Branching out to ELS programs

It’s been a while since we’ve posted an update and that’s because we’ve been busy hosting more community pop-up pot lucks, compiling our cookbook and now hosting cooking classes with a new purpose. Our cookbook is well on its way. We’ve done close to 20 interviews and gone through 40 submissions. We’re still looking for some recipes and stories from faculty and staff and we’re hoping to have a draft of the cookbook done by August 🙂

In other news,  we recently received a Rising youth grant from TakingITGlobal (TIG) to fund future cooking classes specifically for youth. We’ve also  struck a new partnership with the English Language School at the University of Alberta. We’re currently hosting cooking classes with the purpose of helping students work on their conversational English and make friends. It’s changed how we’ve thought about our programming and the ways we can adapt it to meet the needs of different communities.
