Edmonton Comfort Food Cookbook Launch Party

December 3, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Eat food, share stories & meet the faces behind Edmontonians who built community & fostered connection during the pandemic.*free to attend*

In the days following March 11 of 2020, words like ‘unprecedented’, ‘challenging’ and the ‘new normal’ defined human existence. Yet through these moments of profound grief came stories of resilience and hope as neighbours, businesses, and strangers came together in creative ways to uplift their communities. Edmontonians redefined comfort through innovation; from virtual dinner dates to drive-by birthday celebrations, we found new ways to stay connected while staying six feet apart. Over the past two years, Converse and Cook focused on telling this story by creating an Edmonton community-wide cookbook focused on comfort food. We hope that through cultivating these stories and recipes, we can capture the history of what happened in Edmonton during this time while also providing a source of comfort and hope to those feeling isolated and disconnected in our city.

Come join us in celebrating the launch of this cookbook. Meet the faces behind the recipes and stories featured, and sample food from some of the wonderful recipes and businesses featured in this cookbook.

Admission is free or by donation. Pre-orders of the cookbook can be picked up at the venue. You can drop in anytime between 12-2:30 pm (however, food samples are limited, so we suggest you come early!)

The stories and recipes captured in this cookbook are of people who reside(d) on Treaty 6 territory; the territory of the Papaschase and the homeland of the Métis Nation. We acknowledge that our ability to share our connection to food today is because of the vibrant Indigenous cultures that have cared for the land before us and continue to do so today. This cookbook is funded in part by the Edmonton Heritage Council.
