Converse and Cook is about creating social spaces where individuals are empowered to explore their connection to food and their community by creating meals and dining together.

2020-It’s been a year: CSL students, online programs a new cookbook on it’s way and more

We started the year off with so many plans for cooking socials and new partnerships to explore. We had run a couple of in-person programs when the pandemic hit in March. In fact, our last cooking social was 2 days before everything was shut down in Edmonton. The extraordinary times that we find ourselves living in have required Converse and cook to adapt, and we’re still ready to meet the new challenge of building community through foo din only spaces. Throughout the year we’ve hosted several online food socials, started working on a new cookbook, built up our volunteer team and were a placement site for 6 CSL students. Our marketing CSL students have created a plan for us to grow our outreach in the city (part of their plan was creating the new website you see today) and our CSL 200 students did a lot of work to support our upcoming Edmonton wide cookbook. Thank you to our students: Katrina, Moh, Lucas, Thomas, Xinxin and Kelsey for your fantastic work during the Fall 2020 semester.

We look forward to 2021 and the promise of returning to in-person cooking socials one day soon 🙂
